Hello everyone! It's that time again- the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!
This month's challenge was to create a card celebrating a winter holiday OTHER than Christmas. Huh? Oh Dear!
I am not very familiar with the other winter holidays, so I decided to create a more broad spectrum (read: generic) winter card.
I've been working lately more on cards that are snail mail friendly (without extra postage), and this one fits the bill nicely.
I hope you enjoy viewing my little creation, and I can't wait to see what everyone else came up with!
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Vintage Cream
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Peace Be Still, Fancy Flourishes
Inks: Versamark; Colorbox- Quicksilver
Dies: Papertrey Ink- snowflakes
Embossing powder: Ranger
Glitter: Martha Stewart
Gold pen: Marvy Uchida
"See" you again soon!

Holly Jolly
Happy Friday, the weekend is peeking around the corner!
I'd like to share my card for the Papertrey Playhouse challenge, to use a tag on your card. For an added twist, your card should be inspired by one of the PTI Design Team members. I was heavily inspired by Debbie Olson for my card; you can view Debbie's masterpiece HERE. Debbie's card is obviously prettier, because, well because she's Debbie Olson, that's why (and I SO want to be her when I grow up).
I was aiming for a slightly rustic feel here, hopefully I got somewhere in the same area code of that. {Bwwahha!}

I've been using a lot of PTI's Fine Linen cardstock lately. I'm thinking my 50 sheets might not be enough to get me through the holiday season, maybe they should sell 100 packs? Ha!
I've got to go now. My kitchen is a wreck, the bathrooms are a wreck, the family room is a wreck, my sanctuary is a wreck.... get the picture?
Hope to talk to you again soon.

Life is Beautiful
Hi everybody! So, I did manage to come up for air long enough to post a little card for the Off The Wall Craftiness Challenge. I racked my brain for WAY too long trying to figure out a way to turn this into a Christmas card:
I just couldn't make those colors work for me (with a Christmas theme). Here's what I did instead:

Such fun making those flowers. They're just the standard "poufy" flower, made using white crepe paper that I tinted with my ink pads. (and no, I didn't cover up the sentiment with the yellow flower, this photo is taken at a slight angle) : )
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- White, Simply Chartreuse
DP: K & Company
Stamps: Verve- Fairy Tales
Inks: Papertrey Ink- Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, Hibiscus Burst, Plum Puddng, Spring Moss, Smokey Shadow, True Black
Dies: Spellbinders- Classic Ovals
Rhinestones: (from Michael's- tinted with a Copic marker)
I've got to get back to my Christmas projects now. I hope to get to chat with you again tomorrow.

Peace
Hey everyone!
Thought I better pop in here today, and post my card for the Mojo Monday challenge, before I miss the deadline. I've been busy the last couple of days, working on the master plan(s) for the massive piles of cards and tags that I want to do.
Here's my little offering for this challenge:

'Tis the Season
Hey; I'm back, and welcome to the roller coaster ride that is my blog.
We've said good-bye to Halloween themed projects, and so going forward, most of my projects will be holiday oriented.
This little number is for the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger challenge, and for the Blog Birthday Celebration Challenge at Simple Treasures.
Here is the inspiration photo at Moxie Fab World-

...and here is the photo from Simple Treasures-
I found these colors intriguing, as well as the wallpaper and that lush chair in the Tuesday Trigger photo.
Here is my take on these:
Have I mentioned how much I love PTI's felt? It's so soft and velvety; I just love touching it.
I'm really enjoying using non-traditional colors this year; guess my recipients will just have to deal with it.

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Vintage Cream
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Damask Designs, Stocking Prints
Inks: Papertrey Ink- Hawaiian Shores, True Black
Dies: Papertrey Ink- tree
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink- Hibiscus Burst satin ribbon
Felt: Papertrey Ink- Hawaiian Shores
Other: The Robin's Nest- Pearl Dew Drops
Well, I gotta go make some more coffee to gear up for the release party {squealing with delight on the inside}

Boo For Fun
Hey fellow sleep deprived paper crafting addicts!
Is everyone as excited about tonight's release party as I am? Well, of course 'ya are!
I just thought I would pop in with a quick, fun little card that I put together.
I was rummaging through some templates, looking for something completely unrelated, and came across this cutie ghost. So of course, I had to go ahead and cut him out of some white felt and make a card.

NO STAMPS! Even I was able to put this one together in about 15 minutes. It's not for any challenges or anything, just a fun way to end my Halloween projects for this season. Say "bye" to "boo" until next year!
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Simply Chartreuse, True Black
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug- Haunted House
Glittered chipboard: DCWV
Rhinestones: Bazzill
Felt: unknown source (picked up a HUGE piece somewhere)
Template: also unknown (collecting dust in a cabinet from my scrapbooking days)
I hope to chat with you all on the PTI forums tonight; doesn't this release look just delicious so far?

Bloom
Hello again! One more post from me today, before I head off to get some sleep.
I have two cards to share for the Our Creative Corner sketch challenge, using a new set of stamps from Practicing Creativity, that I won at a recent blog hop.
I couldn't make up my mind on which patterned paper to use, so I just did one of each (isn't that what you do?- Bwwahhaa!)
This was a fun sketch, and I think it worked well for this playful type of card:
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- White, Harvest Gold, Pure Poppy
DP: DCWV
Stamps: Practicing Creativity- Barefoot Summer
Inks: Memento- Tuxedo Black; Papertrey Ink- Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Spring Moss, Spring Rain
Dies: Spellbinders- Classic and Scalloped Circles
Markers: Copic
Border Punch: Fiskars
Felt: Papertrey Ink- Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse
Twine: Papertrey Ink- Pure Poppy Baker's twine
That's all folks!

Hey everybody! Hope you're well and have a fabulous day.
Today I want to share a card for The Shabby Tea Room challenge, which is an inspiration photo and you need to incorporate a pumpkin somewhere in your design.
I don't have a lot of pumpkin stamps, so I got a bit "mad scientist" with a completely non-pumpkin stamp set. Let's see if you can guess what I did:

Papertrey Inks fans might notice the Up, Up and Away set here.
I die cut the hot air balloons, stamped them in my pumpkin-y colors, and cut the bottoms off to turn them into pumpkins. The sun rays from the same set became my pumpkin stems.
Yeah, I had fun with this one.

Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Rustic Cream
DP: Cosmo Cricket
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Up, Up and Away, Turning a New Leaf, Vintage Picnic (sentiment)

Love You Forever (Pine cone)
Hello, I'm happy you chose to pay me a little visit this evening.
I'd like to share a card for the Off The Wall Craftiness challenge.
Here is the inspiration photo for the challenge:

...and my project for the challenge:
So let me share the little story behind "Love You Forever Pine cone". I was showing my loving hubby the photos I took today, and when we came to this card, he paused. I could tell by the look on his face that he didn't like the card, and was desperately trying to think of something nice to say about it. So I called him on it. "You DON'T like it, do you? Just tell me you don't like it". He finally admitted, "No, I don't like this one". Needing constructive {key word} criticism, I asked him what elements of the card he did not like. Turns out it was the sentiment panel. He said it looked like I just needed somewhere to stamp the sentiment, and threw it up there, and the border punch didn't go with the card. Wow. Then, out of his mouth----- "But I like the pine cone! Is that a pine cone?" Um, no. Oh, and the best part? This was going to be his anniversary card... sigh, back to the drawing board.
Pine cone, indeed.

Tiny Treats
Hi! I've almost let the day get away from me; haven't been feeling all that great today, so I'm going to bed after I share my "tiny" project with you.
This is for Bethie's Stamp Set Challenge at the Papertrey Ink Forums. There are 3 stamp sets to choose from; you just use one of those three, and share your eye candy with the group.
I've chosen to use Tiny Treats: Halloween for mine. When Tiny Treats: Valentine came out, I immediately knew I wanted to make some little treat boxes with them, so of course, when Tiny Treats: Halloween came along, I had to do the same thing. I'll apparently make it a "tradition" when Tiny Treats: Christmas comes out this month- {giggle}!
Enough yapping:
These little images are just TOO sweet! After I colored them with Copics, I used a clear Spica pen for a little shimmer; not sure if that shows up in the photos very well.
I used a matchbox style template to make my ten little treat boxes. The Halloween patterned papers are from my stash. I stamped the mat stack image from the set onto the Mat Stack 4 dies, using Vintage Cream cardstock. The ink colors were Orange Zest, Plum Pudding, New Leaf, and True Black.
The cardstock colors I used were Orange Zest, Plum Pudding, New Leaf, and Smokey Shadow.
I used a 1/2" circle punch to punch the little "pull handle" notch at the ends.
Fun, fun little project.
Everything willing, I will chat with you again tomorrow.

My Heart Is Yours
Hey everybody! I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday!
I have a card to share with you this evening that is for the Mojo Monday challenge ( a sketch), and the Papertrey Playhouse challenge (black, white and a pop of color). I have a couple of anniversary cards that I need to do for this month, so I thought these two challenges would be a perfect way to get started.

I have a couple of anniversary cards that I need to do for this month, so I thought these two challenges would be a perfect way to get started.
This is about as clean and simple as it gets for me. I flipped the sketch on it's side, and chose a wee bit of Pure Poppy for my pop of color.
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- White, Pure Poppy, True Black
Stamps: Verve- Hundred Hearts, Love Monkey; Papertrey Ink- Background Basics: Hearts
Inks: Papertrey Ink- True Black; Versamark
Dies: Spellbinders- Labels Eight, Classic Circles
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink- True Black satin ribbon
Glaze for hearts: Ranger- Glossy Effects
I hope you all continue to have a great weekend. I'm a bit pooped from taking our little birthday girl for her birthday shopping trip (she even got her ears pierced!), so I think I'm just going to relax now and do a bit of blurfing.

BOO!
Did I scare you? (okay, I know, that was LAME- what can I say? I'm a crafter, not a comedian).
I made another box, this one for the challenge at The Shabby Tea Room, which is to do "vintage Halloween".
Great. Like I don't struggle with shabby and vintage enough, now I've got to add Halloween into the mix?
So I ended up having fun with this one. I know it could have been "shabbier", but I'm working on it...

So I ended up having fun with this one. I know it could have been "shabbier", but I'm working on it...
We have some really fun vintage Halloween papers and cardstock embellishments from daisy d's, some chipboard from Cherry Arte, and a really fun little tag that my MIL gave me LAST YEAR (never ever throw anything out, you never know when you're going to need it- {giggle})
You can barely see it, but there's a MS border punch on the sides at the bottom (the picket fence one) punched from Smokey Shadow cardstock.
The punched border around the top of the box is from EK Success. The Smokey Shadow cardstock was SUPREMELY difficult to punch through with this punch; I can't believe I didn't break the punch. I did however bruise both my palms. Seriously. Visible bruises.
Wanna know what's inside the box?
Ya know those pretty little round decorative jar candles Glade used to make? They still have a jar candle, but it's different. Well anyway, when I found out they were discontinuing those candles (that had some of my favorite scents EVER), I went to every store in town, and bought every candle (of the ones I liked, of course) they had. Salespeople must have thought I had a really stinky house....
But anywho, I only have a few of those precious candles left. My favorite scents always came in some delicate pink, blue or lavender color; not exactly what I want to place on the Halloween tablescape.
So to make a long story short, there's a pretty pink candle under the box (template was originally a Kleenex box cover, so there is no bottom).
I must be tired, I'm yapping and rambling more than usual.
Hope to see you again soon!

Happy Birthday (one more time)
Ahhh, I managed to finish the last of the Verve World Card Making Day Release Week challenges! This is sketch #5, and is going out to a sweet young lady in just a couple of days.

Hello everyone, and a VERY Happy Birthday to my La Princessa, who turns the big 5 today!
She loved her birthday card with the glittery stars, and told me I was sweet for making it. Aww!
I have a card today that is for Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge, a sketch this time. I haven't played with a Flourishes challenge in FOREVER. I wanted to do a Halloween card, but I don't have any Halloween themed stamps from Flourishes (I know, I could use stamps from another company, but I wanted to use THEIR stamps for this challenge), so I, um, improvised.....

Well, now you know for certain that I'm a tad warped. I'm also stubborn {tee hee}.
Please feel free to click on the image to enlarge it. The Crackle Effects I used on the image panel turned out pretty cool, although it took AGES to dry. There's a couple of creepy little spiders behind the roses, but unfortunately, most of them got covered up.
So yeah, I hope Flourishes forgives me for what I did with their lovely roses...

Dies: Spellbinders- Classic Circles
Border Punch: Martha Stewart

Gotta run now; getting ready to take the birthday girl to dinner.
Hopefully, I'll be back later with one more.

Victory
I'm back with a second post for today. I have to get all those Verve challenge cards in by Friday, don't ya know, and I'm making a desperate attempt these days not to leave challenges 'til the last minute.
I really enjoyed making the first card I posted that was in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, so I thought I would make another.
So here we go, for Verve's World Card Making Day Release Week Challenge (sketch #4):

Plenty of background stamping on this one, but I'm not too sure I'll ever try a stitched circle again (WAY too much hand cranking, KWIM?).

...and good morning to all of you out in blog land!
My, I seem to have my fair share of birthday cards to make this month. I have one to show you this morning that will be going out to a certain someone a little later this month (kinda HAVE to show it now, 'cause..) . It's for Verve's World Card Making Day Release Week Challenges. This is sketch #3.

It's kind of hard to tell in the photo unless you enlarge it, but the background is "impressed" as well as stamped. There's just a tiny bit of inking on the rose, and a little dose of glitter. Not too much bulk, so hopefully it will mail okay.

A Little Boxed Love
Hello everyone! Happy (I think) Monday! BBrrr, it's almost chilly here today; I actually went around the house turning off all the ceiling fans (something I usually leave running 24/7).
Enough of that, you didn't come here to hear about my ceiling fans.
I'd like to share my project for the Off The Wall Craftiness challenge, and wowza! it's one GORGEOUS inspiration photo this week!
Those fabbie images immediately made me think of our master bath, and that I needed a little bit of frou frou something in there. Since we moved recently, we're pretty much doing everything over from scratch, and I wanted the master bath to have a spa-like feel to it. These happen to be the colors I've chosen for the master bath (and the downstairs bath, too, but that's another story).
Wanna see what I made?
Here's the first view. This template was originally a Kleenex box cover, but I've added a box bottom on the inside to make it a true "box". Originally, I thought I would put it on the vanity to store cotton balls in, but just out of curiosity, I tried something else, and it FIT (a double size roll of Cottonelle toilet tissue, whether you were wondering or not). It might be a bit pretentious for TP, so I'm still thinking it's going to be my new cotton ball holder.
A view of the lid:
Lookee, I finally got around to making one of those medallions, accordion flowers, rosettes, whatever name you know them as, I finally did one. It seemed a perfect item to showcase the monogram. I had quite a bit of fun making these flowers, too. Here's a couple of closer shots of them:

Thanks for Everything (again)
Gee, I hate to keep repeating myself...... no, I don't, I really like that sentiment.
So here is my final post for today. I got quite a bit accomplished, especially for me. In addition to the cards I've posted, I've got two to send to Paper Craft's 2010 World Card Making Day Contest (never entered before, wish me luck), and I finished a non-card (but totally cool, in MHO) project that I started yesterday.
I have another card for Teri's challenge at the Paper Craft fan page on Facebook.
There's even some orange in this one! Very autumn oriented, if I do say so myself. I used a sketch from one of Paper Craft submission calls from a while back.

The gradient background is sponged. For the stitched ring, I cut a ring of each color, stamped it, cut it apart, and then reassembled the pieces into one ring. The violet is paper pieced, and I created the leaf with a bit of ribbon.
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Kraft, Lemon Tart, Orange Zest, Scarlet Jewel
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Year of Flowers: Violets, Background Basics: Tin Types
Inks: Versamark; Versafine- Onyx Black; Papertrey Ink- Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Scarlet Jewel
Dies: Spellbinders- Classic Circles
Markers: Copic (tried to give a bit of shading to the flower)
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink- Ripe Avocado satin ribbon
Glitter: Doodlebug- Orange Sugar Coating
Well, I hope all of you enjoyed today as much as I did. Too bad this only happens once a year. {tee hee}

Bad to the Bone
So, how much fun are we having today?
I'm back with my third post, which is a Halloween card for the Happily Ever Challenged challenge. Lucky me, I got "treat", which meant I could make a "traditional" Halloween card. Some unlucky individuals are going to receive "trick", which means their creation must be in non-traditional Halloween colors (think pastels), and non-traditional Halloween items (think fluffy bunnies and cute kitties). Yikes!
I was making this card for my son, who is 17, so I couldn't have anything to cutesy or fussy. Sheesh, boys!
After I made the card, I wasn't quite sure that was the look I wanted (even though his favorite color is red), so I made another one. First, the one with red:
Do YOU have a preference? Who better to ask than fellow paper artists, right?
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Tiny Treats: Halloween
Inks: Versafine- Onyx Black; Papertrey Ink- Pure Poppy, Smokey Shadow
Glitter: Ranger- Black Diamond Stickles; Doodlebug- Red Sugar Coating
Buttons: from the stash bowl
Cute little felt critters: a giftie from Meredith
I've got one more before I think I call it a day (and a GREAT day, at that!)
Be back in a bit.

I'm back with my second post for World Card Making Day; I'm really having more fun than I should be allowed- Ha!
Teri Anderson, from Paper Crafts has issued a challenge at the Paper Crafts fan page on Facebook in honor of WCMD, to create a thank you card using either yellow or orange. I'm not a huge fan of orange, but I do like using yellow....
Here's my little bit of fun for that challenge:

You should come join in on the fun, if you get the chance (did I mention there's a prize involved?)

Merry Christmas- what?
So it's a little early, but in celebration of World Card Making Day kicking off the holiday card making season, I thought I would start off with a few Christmas cards. The are for the Moxie Fab World Holiday Cards and More Week: The Jolly Holiday Greetings Challenge. (whew, it takes as long to type the name of the challenge as it does to create something FOR the challenge- {giggle})! I'm also using Mercy's sketch from Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge.
I have not one, but three cards for this! I was having so much fun with Papertrey Ink's new Trees with Trimmings set, that I went ahead and stamped one of each of the adorable little tree images, cut them out, and made some little cuties. I've also used the FABULOUS new paper, Sugar Plums. I'm not usually one to get the latest and greatest in papers, but I COULD NOT resist these. So here we go, in no particular order:

I do think these would be easy enough to mass produce, although myself, I've never been able to make more than 5 of one design before getting bored with it. The most time consuming portion of these cards was cutting out the trees, but since they are basically just little triangles, even that didn't take too long.
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- Vintage Cream, Fine Linen
DP: Papertrey Ink- Sugar Plums
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Trees with Trimmings, Background Basics: Christmas
Inks: Papertrey Ink- Spring Moss, Plum Pudding; Memento- Desert Sand
Dies: Spellbinder- Classic Rectangles (for the sentiment box)
a little bit of stitching, and there you go! I left these particular trees unadorned, because it just didn't "feel" right on these. Maybe on the next set....
So that's post #1 for this fabulous day; I should be back in a bit with more goodies to show you (I even remembered to charge the battery for the camera!) : )

Happy World Card Making Day!
I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am today! I have a few projects to share with you today, but first I have to give a HUGE shout out to the most wonderful husband in the world. He called me just a few minutes ago to ask me what color UTEE I wanted, because I didn't specify it on my list. You gotta love a man that will go to Michael's for you because you had a great coupon that expires today, but didn't want to leave the house since it's World Card Making Day and all!!!!
I love you, honey!
Be back soon with some eye candy (no, not my hubby, some CARDS!)

My Shining Star
Hey again! It's finally Friday {happy sigh}!
Who's excited about World Card Making Day tomorrow? THIS chickie! It will be the first time I've been able to join the "party", and I CAN"T WAIT!
But, for today, I'd like to share a card that I made for my darling La Princessa, who will turn the big 5 in just 6 days! I don't know where the time has gone; it seems like I was just changing diapers yesterday.....
I'm using the sketch from the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge, which worked nicely for what I wanted to do.
Sit back and have a little listen to the cute story I'm about to tell you. It will explain why I did what I did on the card.
About a week or so ago, we were driving back home from shopping, and my DH and I were chatting with La Princessa. DH told her she was a star. Without missing a beat, she looked at him so seriously, and asked, "Do I look like I have pointy ends sticking out of me?" I almost lost it, and I thought DH was going to have to pull the car over. So yeah, as a private little joke, going to have to make sure there are some stars on the card.
La Princessa's favorite color is blue, and she adores sparkly things (kinda like her mommy, only it's not glitter that I have in mind), so HERE's my baby's card; grab your sunglasses:

Baby wants sparkles, baby gets sparkles! I used 5 different glitters and even some holographic embossing powder. Here's a little shot of the inside-
I used spray adhesive to apply the glitter (I was going to use my Xyron, but unfortunately something snapped off on the inside when I turned the knob, so I will be having a small memorial service for it later).I set all that glitter with some spray fixative, so I won't be finding glitter trails all over the house.
What's in it:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink- White, Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening; Bazzill- Blue Jean (really need a mid-range blue from PTI- hint hint)
DP: Basic Grey
Stamps: Papertrey Ink- Star Prints (sentiments)
Inks: Versafine- Onyx Black
Dies: Papertrey Ink- Star Dies; Spellbinders- Classic Circles
unknown small star punch
Border Punch: Fiskars
Holographic Embossing Powder: Ranger
Glitter: Martha Stewart
Gotta run; so much to do, so little time!!!
